Peace treaty with Azerbaijan may be signed soon - Pashinyan

A peace treaty with Azerbaijan may be signed in the near future, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said at the international Silk Road Forum in Tbilisi, AzVision.az reports.

“We are now working on a draft agreement on peace and the settlement of relations with Azerbaijan, I hope that this process will be completed in the next few months,” he noted.

The prime minister emphasized that the leaders of the two countries recognized each other’s territorial integrity on the basis of the Almaty Declaration of 1991.

According to the Armenian prime minister, his country is ready to open all regional communications.

“Crossroads of peace” is an integral part of the peace agenda, he noted. The Armenian prime minister had already voiced this idea earlier in the European Parliament, referring to the creation of a region of peace and harmony in the South Caucasus.

“I hope that in the near future there will also be developments in terms of opening the border between Armenia and Türkiye for citizens of third countries and persons with diplomatic passports, which will also bring a positive impulse to the entire South Caucasus region,” he added.
